Thursday Nov 08, 2012

The Summer went fast, and certainly the seasons are changing really fast. At this time of the year everything seems to fade away; still, we have had some good memories behind us. Some of those in terms of what he have seen or listened in the past months. And what happened with the Summer Season music? Well, it was full of rhythm and really enjoyable. As usual, rock beats were the favorite, especially for several OP theme songs.
We start with LiSA, who gained recognition as the vocalist of the second generation of Girls Dead Monster, and the Angel Beats! anime. In 2011, she made her solo debut with the mini-album Letters to U, and she is also the vocalist of rock band Love is Same All. In the Sword Art anime she performed the OP theme.
And that's not everything we have this season, artists such as Faylan, who debuted as a singer in 2005 by singing an insert song for game adaption of GIRLS Bravo, or video game favorite yozuca* are also around.
But the season was a more special because old time favorite’s artists returned to perform new themes. Masami Okui began her professional musical career at age 21 as a concert backup singer. She has sung a lot of themes for anime TV and movies. She has released more than 50 singles and 20 solo albums and this summer she sung the Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon II ED theme.
And what can you say about Kumi Koda, who made her debut through avex trax's sub-label rhythm zone in late 2000 with the single "TAKE BACK". Now, she performs the Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse OP theme song.
Yui Horie is also back, she says her first inspiration to be a voice actress was as a child watching the anime series Dirty Pair. Years later, she debuted in with the video game Voice Fantasia in 1997. But it was in 2000 when she took a major role in Love Hina as the character Narusegawa Naru. After so many years, she is still a fan favorite and now she is part of the Dog Days' anime.
Finally; Annabel, a singer and song writer who was born in Argentina. She started her career back in 2005. In 2009, her popularity rose with the release of the singles "above your hand" and "Signal Graph". In November 2012 she is releasing her first studio album including all her solo singles. But before that, she performed the Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate OP theme.

azTRAX Spring 2012 Special

Monday Jul 23, 2012

Monday Jul 23, 2012

Another season is coming to an end and certainly it has been interesting. Several series were interesting to follow, and plenty more showed that music is still strong and varied.
So, let’s talk a little about some artists in this azTRAX’s Spring 2012 Special. May'n has become a constant featured artist by anime series. She debuted as an urban singer under stage name May Nakabayashi in 2005 and later in 2007 she changed her artistic name to May'n. This time, she performed the first OP theme for the Accel World anime.
The good old rock style continues with a fun theme by knotlamp, a JRock band formed in 2000. They haven’t been very active since 2009, when they release their last full album: Sing Against the Stream.
Next, we can listen to ChouCho, who initially formed the band Lotus Lotus in 2007 when she was still in high school and performed covers of songs from anime series. Now, ChouCho is well recognized and performs the OP theme song for the Hyouka anime.
Around the middle of this long track, you’ll be able to listen to an old favorite coming back for a new generation. Good old fashioned anime is able to last for decades, and that’s exactly what Saint Seiya has been doing for more than 25 years. Now, the traditional Pegasus Fantasy gets revamped with its Omega version. And it wouldn’t be as special as it is if the original MAKE.UP band, formed in 1983, wasn’t part of this series.
But that’s not everything this Season’s Special has to offer. You’ll be able to listen to artists such as Aki Toyosaki, who was named as a "Best New Actress" at the 4th Seiyuu Awards in 2010. And this season, she performs the Medaka-Box ending theme.
But if we talk about great seiyuu who can sing and perform, we have Nana Mizuki, who was the first winner of the Seiyuu Awards back in 2007, this time; Nana Mizuki performs the Blood-C The Last Dark film theme.
The season was really interesting, so, give it a try and listen to this azTRAX special.
Have a great Summer-Time!

azTRAX Winter 2012 Special

Monday May 07, 2012

Monday May 07, 2012

This winter season was relatively short, still, it was good enough to create this little special. Some series weren't specially flashy, still, they got enough to maintain our attention. The same happened with the OP and ED theme songs.
First fo all, Nagi Yanagi, began posting cover versions of songs online in 2005, and starting producing original doujin music in 2006 under the name CorLeonis. Between 2009-2011, she was guest vocalist for the music group Supercell. Her 2012 single was used as the ending theme to the anime Ano Natsu de Matteru.
Next is azusa, a former member of the group Sparkling☆Point. After their disbandment in 2009 it was announced she would continue as a soloist. In 2010, she signed with Pony Canyon.
With a childish spirit, Papa no Iu Koto wo Kikinasai had nice theme songs. Seiyuu and singer Eri Kitamura performed the OP. Another seiyuu and singer is Megumi Nakajima who was part of the Rinne no Lagrange series. In 2007, Megumi auditioned to the Victor Entertainment sanctioned "Victor Vocal & Voice Audition" and won the role to voice Ranka Lee in Macross Frontier.
With no doubt, Futari no Kimochi no Honto no Himitsu was a catchy song that came along with some dancing steps for the Kill Me Baby anime. If you haven't seen the ED video, don't miss it, is really fun, and of course, there are several crazy persons doing the staps and uploading them tho the net.
Japanese visual kei rock band MUCC is also present with a good tune for Inu x Boku Secret Service. And what can be said by a long time favorite like ALI PROJECT who was part of ANOTHER, one of the most interesting series of the season.
But if you want a favorite singer, Yui Horie is a reference in the industry, and we had to include it, no matter what might happened.
