azTRAX Fall 2011 Special
January 27th, 2012
Already into 2012, it's about time to release a new special, this time, the Fall Season Special has a nice rock feeling.
As a whole, the season had its ups and downs, but in terms of OP and ED themes, it contained a nice variety of rhythms, most of those with good guitar riffs and endless drums.
Bakuman 2 brought us a new catchy song by Tommy heavenly6, aka Tomoko Kawase, who is well known for songs as "EVERYDAY AT THE BUS STOP", "je t'aime★je t'aime", "Wait till I can dream" and "pray".
Houkago Tea Time were part of the OST of the K-ON Movie, it was formed in May 2009 by Sakurakou K-ON Bu (Aki Toyosaki, Yoko Hikasa, Satomi Sato and Minako Kotobuki) with Taketatsu Ayana. Of course, the anime series inspired this group, and has had a lot of success thanks to it.
Also, you'll be able to find new talents, such as Eir Aoi, who was discovered through Nico Nico Douga video sharing network. She was selected to sing the ED song for Fate/Zero anime.
Or how about 7!! -Pronounced Seven Oops- a four piece JRock band formed in 2004. They received the grand prix for Mitsuya Cider CM Audition in 2005. They are recognized, thanks to a Naruto Shippuuden OP, but this time they perform the OP theme for Kimi to Boku.
If you think you need some real idols, maybe Maaya Sakamoto or KOTOKO will be able to fill your needy heart. Sakamoto had a couple singles, but this time Tamayura hitotose's OP was the pick. And KOTOKO returns as Shakugan no Shana III puts an end to this anime franchise.
Sure you'll find something interesting to listen.
Have a great 2012, and prepare for a new year of music and anime!

azTRAX Summer 2011 Special
October 19th, 2011
It happened so fast, the summer went by and most of us were just getting used to it. Usually, we have that feeling when a new season is coming, what happened to the last 3 months?
For this Summer 2011 Anime Season, a lot happened, many series were able to catch out attention and some weren't as good as expected. But what about the music that came along?
You could say that this particular summer, the music was exactly what you'd expect from an anime series, let's say the sounds were as 'animeish' as they could be, strong and faster OP and more relaxed ED themes.
But also, the artists behind weren't as commercial as they have been in recent seasons. Still, there is always something interesting for everybody, and this was also another fun season to follow and listen.
Right away you'll understand what I mean while you listen to the OP theme for the Hayate no Gotoku movie theme by Ruka Suirenji, a dance idol and an amateur mangaka. With that fast pace, you'll bump into seiyuu Hitomi Harada and Kenichi Suzumura.
Chiaki Ishikawa, the former lead vocalist of unit See-saw, has done so well on her own, and proof of it is what she did on the Kami-sama Dolls anime series.
You'll also listen to new bands like LAMA, formed in 2011 and made up of Nakamura Kouji, Furukawa Miki, Tabuschi Hisako and Ushio Kensuke. Or the debut single release from CHOCHO who is quite popular in the Nico Nico Douga "Utattemita" section.
Finally, what can be said about Yui Horie, pop artist and a well-known idol seiyuu.
Have a great Autumn!

azTRAX Spring 2011 Special
July 18th, 2011
An extended Spring Season is done, and there were a lot of good singles in many of the anime series aired during this period of the year.
The Spring 2011 left us a good mix between classic anime, commercial and experimental tunes. To prove it, we started with Marina Kawano, the winner of the 4th Animax Anison Grand Prix. Followed by an anime and game loved artist like Aki Misato.
As usual, there is a good amount of rock sounds, like Hokkaido based band Galileo Galilei, or a Korean band named 2PM, who are trying to conquer Japan with their music style.
One thing is certain, pop music can't stay behind when you have groups like Sphere or solo artist like azusa.
Finally, a really interesting song was in DWB's which included the featured vocals from electro rock band Nirgilis. I'm sure you'll find it quite catchy.
And if anime is already your second name, then Nana Misuki will agree with you completely and give you something nice for your ears.
So, don't be afraid to listen and share it everywhere.
May your summertime be full of new experiences!

April 16th, 2011
Whenever you listen to music, you want to listen to certain classic styles, but also, you have to be open to new ones.
The Winter season was able to do exactly that, from well known artists like Yui Horie and anime favorites like Rie Fu to more 'rockeish' sounds like Iori Nomizu or Chiaki Kuriyama.
One thing is certain, rock music is able to express a lot of feelings, maybe that's why it has become a must for OP singles.
I'm sure you'll find this particular special to be filled with a lot of those emotions, and mixing it happened in a fast pace, maybe my 'musical ear' is getting trained by now?
